With the completion of these capital repairs and upgrades, PCN’s carrying capacity has increased from 80 to 93 /R/D/W/T, and flight processing capacity for this runway has increased by 20%. The modernisation works included the replacement of the concrete slabs on the taxiway surface, the re-laying of the embankment and 100% modernisation of the lighting system. During the works, more than 90,000 tonnes of bituminous mix were poured and 7,800 cubic metres of concrete slabs were resurfaced. The runway is 3.5 km long, 60 m wide, of which 45 m is the bearing surface and 7.5 m shoulders. It was built in 1987 and underwent a major overhaul in 1997, with only maintenance work being carried out until the current upgrade.
